Hello, I’m Craig Smith, the founder and heating engineer behind Prime Heating & Renewables.
Based in the Dunfermline area, I established Prime to provide homeowners and landlords across Fife with a dependable and straightforward heating service.
My approach is simple. Turn up when agreed, treat every home with respect, explain the work clearly and never take shortcuts with safety.
Why I became a heating engineer
I came into the heating industry as a mature career changer because I wanted to build something practical that genuinely helped people.
Before retraining, I worked in Hospitality, Sports Coaching & Sports Development. These roles taught me how important reliability, communication and good customer service are. These qualities are just as important inside someone’s home as technical ability.
I completed the City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Gas Engineering at Fife College, gaining practical experience through college training, industry placements and domestic heating installations. I have also completed manufacturer training with Worcester Bosch and Baxi.
Heating work done properly
Inviting someone into your home requires trust. I want customers to understand what is happening with their boiler or heating system rather than being left confused by technical language.
When I visit your property, you can expect careful and methodical checks, clear explanations, honest recommendations, respect for your home and safe workmanship.
If a repair is worthwhile, I will explain the repair. If there are several options, I will talk you through them without pressuring you into making a particular decision.

Prime is a growing independent business and every appointment matters to me. I want to build a strong local reputation through the quality of my work and the way customers are treated.
Prime currently provides boiler servicing, fault diagnosis, repairs, heating controls, radiator work and other domestic heating services across Dunfermline, Fife and surrounding areas.
