No heating or hot water
The boiler may not fire, may lock out, or may give you heating but no hot water — or the other way round.
Fault diagnosis and repairs
If your boiler has stopped working properly, the first job is finding out why. I’ll work through the symptoms, explain what I find and talk you through the repair options before extra work goes ahead.
Common problems
A fault code helps, but it doesn’t always tell the whole story. The boiler, controls and heating system may all need checking.
The boiler may not fire, may lock out, or may give you heating but no hot water — or the other way round.
A leak, expansion-vessel problem, pressure-relief valve or another component may need checking rather than simply topping the system up again.
Banging, cycling, slow warm-up or fluctuating hot water can all be symptoms worth investigating.
How diagnosis works
Share the boiler make and model, any fault code, the pressure reading and when the problem occurs.
I’ll test the likely causes rather than assuming a fault code means one particular part has failed.
I’ll explain what I’ve found and agree the next step and cost with you before extra repair work is done.
Before the visit
Gas emergency: if you smell gas or suspect carbon monoxide, call 0800 111 999 immediately rather than using the enquiry form.
Frequently asked questions
Not reliably. The cost depends on the cause, access and whether parts are needed. Any diagnostic or appointment charge can be confirmed when the visit is arranged, and further repair costs are discussed before additional work goes ahead.
Yes. The enquiry form accepts photographs, and the boiler make, model and fault code are all useful. A short video can also help with an intermittent noise when it is safe to record it.
Not always. Some faults can be resolved straight away, while others need a specific part or further work. If a return visit is needed, that will be explained clearly.
Tell me what the boiler is doing and include your postcode. I aim to reply within two working days.
